Port Ghalib has evolved from a small port town into a vibrant tourist destination overlooking a beautiful marina and a charming promenade. It is home to the famous restaurant and club “Hakuna Matata,” run by Polish owners and frequented by renowned artists and bands. Port Ghalib is also well-known for its shopping area, which features a variety of shops and bazaars where you can find all types of local souvenirs, papyrus reproductions of pharaoh items, and unique gifts.
After dinner, we will pick you up from your hotel and take you for a stroll through the port. You’ll have the chance to stop at bars for a drink, enjoy the pleasant climate, and listen to music. Explore the many shops along the inner streets, offering a wide range of perfumes and souvenirs of all kinds. The locals you meet are friendly yet non-intrusive, making the walk enjoyable with frequent, pleasant stops to browse various products. When you are ready to call it a night, our driver will take you back to your hotel.
RELAX: Port Ghalib is a great place to forget that you are on an otherwise remote stretch of Saharan coastline. Here, you can sip drinks at a table by the marina or enjoy shopping in what is definitely Marsa Alam’s most upmarket souk.
PARTY: If you are looking for a faster pace of life, Port Ghalib is the place to be. Every weekend, most of the restaurants host live concerts and bands, offering you the chance to pick your favorite and enjoy a different night in Marsa Alam.
SHOPPING: Port Ghalib offers a modern souk with an impressive 165 retail outlets, although not all may be open depending on the season. This is a highly sanitized souk, far removed from the traditional bustling markets with livestock. Instead, you’ll find a clean, organized shopping experience, though with prices to match your budget.
